Dr. Marla Sacks is early in her career, but already demonstrates passion for international medical and surgical relief efforts. In 2013-15, she volunteered in medical clinics in Grenada, serving the local population and bridging the gap to improve access to care. After completing her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada, W.I, she commenced general surgery training at the State University of New York (SUNY) Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, NY, USA. Marla traveled to Manila, Philippines in February 2019 to assist the pediatric surgery team in operations & rural clinics. In September 2021 and April 2020, she joined Dr. Radulescu in Ghana and Zambia, respectively, performing pediatric surgery & assisting in outreach efforts. During the COVID pandemic, worked with Dr. Radulescu to coordinate virtual education & operative planning sessions with pediatricians and pediatric surgeons working in Vietnam. She currently is a member of the American Pediatric Surgical Association (APSA) Ethics committee, which hosts global pediatric surgery discussions and supports relief efforts.
